Accurate enough for dictation

Transcribes stutters, repeats words
“It always transcribes speech fragments for me, like if I stutter and say "m-m-m-map" parakeet will dutifully transcribe "m m m map"”
Comment from 13 Jul 2026 in “Apple's new SpeechAnalyzer API, benchmarked against Whisper and its predecessor” “It makes a lot more mistakes, possibly because (like you mentioned) large portions of the speech will pause / stutter”
Comment from 13 Jul 2026 in “Apple's new SpeechAnalyzer API, benchmarked against Whisper and its predecessor” “it will occasionally do this thing where it just repeats a word like a dozen times”
Comment from 7 Apr 2026 in “Show HN: Ghost Pepper – 100% local hold-to-talk speech-to-text for macOS” V3 worse than v2 for English
“I've noticed large blocks occasionally dropped as well, so reverted to v2 for my usage”
Comment from 4 Feb 2026 in “Voxtral Transcribe 2” “Parakeet v2 and Parakeet unified to perform significantly better than v3.”
Comment from 8 Oct 2026 in “Whistle: Speech to Text in 16.9 MB” Limited languages and accents
