## What people warn about

- Competitors now better and cheaper (3 comments): "GoPro isn't failing because the concept is wrong - the market is massive . GoPro is failing because its competitors started releasing clones which are both better and cheaper." ([source](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48959681)) "They've been a has-been for the last 5 years at least. They didn't go under, but still lost the title and tons of market share to DJI and 360" ([source](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48391568)) "many YouTubers suggesting outright against GoPro since they haven't kept up with image quality" ([source](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48958055))
- Subscriptions and pushy cloud ads (4 comments): "I loved the product early on, but they became the Adobe Creative Cloud of cameras." ([source](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48958660)) "they could have just kept trying to make good products instead of whatever subscription service bullshit they attempted" ([source](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48390617)) "They are both really really bad, with ads everywhere constantly pushing subscriptions to their cloud services." ([source](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48958206))
- Weak desktop software, mobile focus (2 comments): "they prioritize mobile apps over their PC software so if you want to edit on a computer like a normal reasonable person you lose features" ([source](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48958738)) "they don't have a single compelling product and HOLY FUCK the software is bad compared to insta360" ([source](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48389413))
- Battery poor in cold temperatures (2 comments): "they now ship a battery that cannot handle even mildly freezing temperatures. Impossible to film while skiing." ([source](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48965472)) "GoPro is not the best for low light environments, and the battery is a bit temperature sensitive" ([source](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48961398))
